Ian Parvin is a Bay Area–based violist currently pursuing his Master of Music degree at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he studies with Jonathan Vinocour, principal violist of the San Francisco Symphony. He has performed with the Utah Symphony and Ballet West Orchestra, and has appeared at major festivals including Festival Napa Valley, the Bowdoin International Music Festival, the Madeline Island Chamber Music Festival, and the National Orchestral Institute.


Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, Ian also considers Salt Lake City and Northern Utah home after spending seven formative years there. He holds dual degrees in Environmental Engineering and Music from Utah State University, where he studied with Bradley Ottesen of the Fry Street Quartet and developed a lasting love of chamber music. Ian is passionate about music’s role in building community and remains active as both an orchestral and chamber musician throughout the Bay Area.
